Purpose | The eyes are the only feature on the face that can show emotion as well as they do. Eyes create a passage way to the mind and show what one is feeling or thinking at all times. They let down our guard which lets everything set free rather than kept private and secret. |

Artist Statement: Love is lost so often and always taken for granted. Love is so fragile and can just blow away in a second. Investment: For this project it didn’t take me too much time to complete the idea that I had envisioned in my head. The thing that took me the longest was burning the edges of the middle canvas. I know that I could have made it better and taken more time on it, but when I finished them I thought they looked done. When I look at them now they look incomplete to me. I hope to not expand on these pieces in particular, but to expand on the idea and to make it more complex. Difficulty: The most difficult process of these works was getting the baking soda stick. It was first put on with water and then sprayed with a clear spray paint to give it a top coating , but it still doesn’t want to stay down on the canvas. In the future I hope to stray away from most mix media and focus more on technical drawings with only some different mediums in them. Self-Assessment: I would give myself a A-, because even though I really like how the work turned out I know I could have done better. I believe I captured the idea in my head well even though I know I could have improved on that idea before I put it into work. The biggest problem I think I made this summer was going with my first idea and not coming up with multiples, because I believed the first to be the best. I hope for in the future that I can give myself more choices and to pick the best one and not the first one. |
