Summer WorkDifficulty: The wood I worked on this past summer was really rough and unmanageable. In the future I will stick to softer wood to work on. In most of my other art work I have been afraid to use color, which is a big challenge I overcame this summer in creating these works. I felt as though it was time for a drastic change which I created with color. I want to experiment a lot more with this new-found visual concept. I plan to continue to work on wood with bright colors. | Intelligence: I believe the two pieces on wood are conceptually driven as they represent the flow of the world and how simple life can be when it flows and isn't connected to everything. The carousel horse was technically driven as I wanted to expand my technical skills by painting in oil. Investment: These works were created over the summer '13. I believe my work ethic has grown conceptually, but is still at the same level technically. I hope to invest more technical skill in my work in the future as well as find new ways in order to present these skills. Self-Eval: I believe the technical skills in the two pieces on wood could have been sharper if the wood was softer. I also believe the carousel horse is unfinished. I would give myself an A- on these works as precautions in wood buying would have been a good idea. |
